This is a very simple project that has a big impact! After church in Romania, most Christians have a big, family lunch which is prepared on Saturdays. Many times family members or friends from church are invited over. Many of the young people with whom we work come to our church on Sunday. After church they have nowhere to go. The whole church leaves to go home and to eat a big meal while they walk back to the orphanage alone.

Cooking is Fun!

Cooking is a life skill sorely lacking in the orphans, and so we created the Sunday Dinner project. This project is very simple. Each Saturday we invite several of the orphans over to prepare the Sunday dinner with us. Then, after church, they come over to eat what they have prepared. This way we not only give them a fish to eat but also teach them to fish at the same time!

This project has gone very well. The young people love it! It is not only very beneficial for them, but it also creates a casual environment which always leads to opportunities for discipleship, bonding, fun, and stimulating conversation.
